Thanks to Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts Project Stream grant* awarded by the Lehigh Valley Arts Council, and an invitation from Just Born Quality Confections, Inc., Mikayla’s Voice was delighted to return to PEEPSFEST® with our unique Wheels of Friendship® inclusive painting program. It is our honor to partner with companies and organization that celebrate our differences and are committed to a community where everyone belongs and feels welcome.
Most unfortunately, Mikayla herself had to miss PEEPSFEST® this year because she was not feeling well. Luckily, she was able to make her mark before the event with wheelchair tracks on sixteen 16”x16” canvases that together form a mosaic Bethlehem star symbolizing the Christmas City. As hundreds of kids of all abilities created art with different colors, patterns and Just Born’s iconic chicks, they were Mikayla’s Voice ~ reminding us that all PEEPS® want to be included (view Facebook photo gallery).
While Mikayla couldn’t be at ArtsQuest, Makenna was happy to contribute wheelchair tracks to our second project with the help of her sister, Lilly, and other new friends visiting PEEPSFEST®. They outlined this 52”x52” Bethlehem star made with tissue paper, decoupage, and PEEPS® sugar (like magic pixie dust!) As always both artworks also feature the handprints of our young artists (view Facebook photo gallery).
